Honoring the Spirit of Ekushey: Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day Observed at UCEP Sylhet Region
On 21 February of 2026 (Saturday), a discussion meeting was held at the UCEP Sylhet Region, organized by UCEP Bangladesh, to observe Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.
The program was graced by the presence of Ms. Lubana Yesmin Shampa, Honorable President of Sylhet Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as the Chief Guest. Paying deep tribute to the language martyrs, she stated that Ekushey is not only a part of our history, it's also a symbol of our consciousness, courage, and self-respect.
The event served as an important platform for remembrance, respect and for conveying the ideals of the Language Movement to the younger generation. The sacrifice of the martyrs has taught us that we must never compromise when it comes to our identity and fundamental rights.
Respect to all language martyrs.
May the Bengali language continue to live on in our thoughts, actions, and the leadership of tomorrow.
